General Grievous… OK, the name might be a little on the nose, but the look is spectacular!

If you don’t know this character’s back story in the Star Wars universe, it’s worth having a dig and read through. He’ DEEPLY vengeful towards the Jedi and his transition from flesh-and-bone hunter to cybernetic Jedi-killer is something special!

This was a set of 3D prints which pretty much ALL needed to be significantly filled and smoothed due to the compound curves. There really is no way of orienting this kind of print to remove THAT need!

There are some really nice cracks across the head piece which I wanted to ensure I maintained through this process so I could bring them out in the final paint job so point tools were used to dig these after the filler had been smoothed back.

Finish

The overall look for Grievous’ helmet is bone, even the ‘wings’ at the sides have this hue so I went with that across the piece with the exception of the breathing tubes and ear-pods.

The most challenging bits were the eyes. The model has fleshy textures and I wanted to do them justice and try to get close to the reference imagery that I found with a dark almost burned look to the skin as well as a slight wetness around the eyehole itself and I think I did a pretty good job!
